2009 ElectionsPosted 9/8/08
Cheryl L. George, Chairperson of the Committee on Nominations and Elections, CCBD, requests nominations for the following offices for the winter 2009 elections:
- Vice President – The Vice President serves a 4-year term, 1 year each as Vice President, President Elect, President and Past President. This position provides overall leadership to CCBD in all capacities.
- Secretary – The Secretary serves a two-year term.
- Student Member-at-Large – The Student Member-at-Large serves a two-year term. This position represents the interests of CCBD’s student membership.
- CCBD Representative to the Representative Assembly (Representative B) - Representative B serves a two-year term. This position acts as a voice and advocate for CCBD at the CEC Representative Assembly. This position requires that the Representative attend the CEC Representative Assembly at the ICEC Annual Convention in the spring.
- Nominations and Elections Committee Member – The Nominations and Elections Committee Member serves a three-year term. This position works with the Nominations and Elections Chair to approve a slate of nominees for CCBD’s annual elections.
All terms of office for all offices begin July 1, 2009. Since much of the CCBD business is now conducted via telephone, e-mail and its website, access to these is important for all nominees. Except for the Nominations and Elections Committee member, officers elected would meet with other Executive Committee members twice a year, once in the fall, and once in the spring at the CEC Convention (most expenses are reimbursed.) A significant time and leadership commitment is expected from those elected.
More detailed job descriptions for each office are available from: Jamie Thompson, CCBD Executive Secretary, at: CCBD, PO 24246, Stanley KS 66283. Phone/fax: 913-239-0550 or email at Jamie@ccbd.net or may be accessed in the CCBD Handbook.
To make a nomination, send a letter to this same address stating the nominee’s mailing address, phone number and email address, and the office for which that person is being nominated by October 30, 2008.
All nominees must be current CCBD members, and the nominee must submit a letter agreeing to be nominated which includes their name, contact information, and CEC membership number. The nominee must provide the following additional information to help the Nominations and Elections Committee select the candidates to appear on the ballot.
- The nominee’s perspective on the critical issues for the Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders and CCBD responses needed to deal with the issues identified (500 words maximum.)
- A description of how the nominee, as an officer of CCBD, would work on the CCBD Executive Committee in responding to the issues identified (500 words maximum).
- A condensed vita. Please include accomplishments, service, expertise, and experience in professional organizations (3 pages maximum).
- A brief statement including a brief self-descriptive statement of professional experience, CCBD or CEC offices held, reasons for seeking office, and/or other information that will be included verbatim on the ballot (100 words maximum, longer statements will be edited to 100 words).
The deadline for nominees to submit information is October 30, 2008. Nominations and supporting materials should be mailed to: CCBD, PO Box 24246, Stanley, KS 66283, may be faxed to 913-239-0550, or may be emailed to Jamie@ccbd.net.
Questions may be directed to: Cheryl L. George, Nominations and Elections Chair, cgeorge@lvc.edu.
